Not Another Problem!

Tomorrow is the first day of school and Andy was doing fine and getting ready for the big day. Then he started to develop terrible eye pain. He couldn't see and within a half an hour he was having massive head pain. I can't believe it! What else can go wrong! I do believe he is having a migraine. My older son started about this time and now my youngest son has it too.

I am thinking the 21 bananas a week that have been going into the high calorie smoothies may be suspect. It's the one thing I thought he could tolerate and now I am going to have to find something else that he can have. This is maddening. He really needs the calories and I don't think he can handle the other fruits but I am going to have to try them.

I have a ton of errands to do too. I just called my husband and he is coming home for a couple of hours to take care of Andy so that I can get these other things done. It's nice that my husband is the boss and can come and go as he needs.

I hope Andy comes out of it in a few hours. If it lasts until tomorrow, he will have to miss the first day of school. I may have to put him on cyproheptadine, an antihistamine that my older son took and it controlled his migraines really well.

I was just reading that there is a connection between the IBS and migraines. Guess I will have to do more research on that.

Holy cow! What else? Oh I feel so bad for you! I imagine if you could take all of this away from your son you would, it has to be frustrating to do everything you can and still feel like you just want to kiss it and make it better. If only that would work.

Poor kid too, he's been through enough already.

I still say you are doing everything right - doing a lot of research on your own and pushing for more answers from the docs. I know I've said it before but hang in! You are doing a fantastic job with Andy, he is so lucky to have you as a Mom!

Bette Jo,

This took me totally by surprise. Last week, he was having trouble with his eyes and got a headache but it didn't develop into anything like it did today. Luckily, it only lasted about 3 hours. I just read bananas can be a trigger so I went out and bought a lot of other canned fruit to see if I can substitute them into the smoothies. Having managed my older son's migraines, I do feel a little better equipped to deal with this latest crisis. However, I am feeling the stress. Just trying to keep Andy well and able to go to school without problems has really taking a toll. I am dead tired.
Hope you are doing OK.

Have they checked him for thyroid problems?

"Thyroid hormones control energy levels and metabolism. Too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) can cause weight loss, diarrhea, vision problems, fast heartbeat, and trouble coping with high temperatures."

I am pretty sure they have. I really do think the hormones are involved somehow too. Also, bette jo, I can't access your site. I keep getting this error message : bX-uhtnn7. Maybe it is just me but I can access other blogs on blogger.com with no problem.

No, it was me. I messed with it and couldn't access it myself and I was crazy! Luckily I found someone who would look at my html and fix it for me - really helpful guy!

I was trying to put a header on - I made one - it's on my living room floor with a cat sitting on it right now - hey - I should take a picture of it! Anyway, I have the header up right now and I'm really happy with it.
