In the Midst of Winter

It snowed about 7 to 8 inches on Thursday. The weatherman was totally off the mark as he said it would be just a couple of inches at the most and not even that. Still it was beautiful, seeing all the trees with their branches covered in snow. Even dusted off my cross country skis and went out in the backyard and gave them a work-out.

So in the midst of winter, I decided to paint peonies. A customer was interested in some although I am not sure they would necessarily want this one but it gave me an excuse to escape the winter cold.

Under the Sea Inspiration

I haven't had much of a chance to paint but with such a hectic end of the week coming up, I decided to fit it in. I was inspired by the beautiful fish I saw while snorkeling off the island of Maui. This was done in mixed media. The background of yellow, red and blue was done in acrylics, the trigger fish were done in watercolor and india ink.

This Hawaiian Trigger Fish can be found in my Etsy store.
I also am having a sale this week 20% on all my framed handpainted tile.

Anatomy of a Painting

I decided to paint a corgi and here are the results of that project.

This painting is for sale in my etsy store. I used a lot of yellows, blues and reds, as well as burnt umber , burnt sienna and quinacridone gold. I love Daniel Smith watercolor paints. They are expensive but well worth the cost.
